THE HERB FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. Rauwolfia serpentina or Rauvolfia serpentina, or ‘ Indian snakeroot’ is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae; known as “sinta” in the Philippines and “sarpagandha” in India. It also relieves stress, anxiety and insomnia, which are usually found associated with hypertension. In the world of bodybuilding, this plant is getting popular as a weight loss ingredient. iForce Dexaprine includes the plant. The key to understanding why a sports supplement such as iForce Dexaprine has included Rauwolfia serpentina is that of the active ingredients found in the plant namely: Reserpine, Deserpidine, Serpentinine, Corynanthine, Yohimbine, Ajmaline, Rauwolscine.
Yohimbine has been in use as a weight loss supplement. Next is Rauwolscine, a compound that is getting popular as a weight loss ingredient.
Serpentina is also known for its anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, anti-diuretic and anti-cholinergic activities. Recent research has proven that Rauwolfia serpentina exhibits profound activity toward drug-resistant tumor cells. It is one of the 50 fundamental herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine, where it has the name shégēn mù (Chinese: 蛇根木) or yìndù shémù (Chinese: 印度蛇木).
1. Treats snake bites.
Serpentina is the source of a local Indian myth that claims that when a mongoose was about to engage in combat with a cobra, the mongoose fed on the roots of the snakeroot plant. Then, if bitten during the battle, the mongoose would be unaffected by the cobra’s venom. The snakeroot plant thus became known to the locals as a potent antidote for snakebites. If this fable is true, the use of this plant can serve as an example of “zoopharmacognosy,” a term coined in 1992 to describe the study of how animals use and recognize medicinal plants. The term originates from the Greek roots zoo -, “animal”; pharma-, “drug or poison,” and -cognosy, “to recognize.” In serpent bites now, the powder of serpentina roots is given orally, as well as, applied to the site of the bite.
2. Relieves Itchiness.
It relieves itching in urticaria (hives). Urticaria is a skin disease in which pale red swellings in groups on the surface of the skin are observed mainly on the trunk along with itching. Urticaria is a case of Hypersensitivity reaction of the skin to allergens. Both men and women are likely to get this allergy. This can be cured quite easily and no cause for alarm.
Urticaria may develop from excessive sweating, insect bites, animal dander, exposure to too much heat or cold and undue stress.
3. Reduces High Blood Pressure.

It is used in liquid drops until the blood pressure has reduced.

Whenever a patient is extremely irritable and is behaving in an unruly manner, serpentina has been found effective in calming them down. However, it should be used with great care in the case of the debilitated, or those habitually depressed. Serpentina benefits those who are easily agitated or suffer from insomnia in that it is used as a tranquiliser; individuals who suffer from psychiatric disorder, hysteria, schizophrenia ,epilepsy, anxiety- related insomnia and depression are normally given medication that includes serpentine.
